A friend who does yoga encouraged me to enroll in Bikram. I did approximately six weeks ago and have been going rather frequently but at different times. As a result, I have been exposed to a variety of the instructors; all of whom have their unique styles but are consistently professional, understanding, compassionate, supportive and allow me to proceed at my own pace without embarrassing or making fun of me because of my inabilities. Since I began Bikram, I have lost nearly 20 pounds, do not consume alcohol as much as I did nor do I indulge my former "pig out" cravings of over-eating. My friends all say I look years younger.
For a 67 year old who was grossly over weight and physically inept, Bikram has certainly made a positive difference in my life! Great instructors and reasonable fees especially if one takes advantage of their introductory offers. I've signed up for a year under their discount plan!

I started Bikram Yoga just by chance.
My cousin had been taking it for years and asked me to try this wonderful activity that is 90 minutes session that he says is therapeutic both physically and mentally.
i wasn't convinced initially because i had so many physical activities like tennis ,golf, dancing, bowling ,gym and walking.. so the substitution looked lame..
But i had this hip pain for years which would come and go with my activities ...
So because i respected my cousin and for family sake i tried it..
i have been doing it for a year and a half now ...
For the first 6 months i did it 3 times week ..
Then the next 12 months its every day except when i travel out of town...
I have found no desire to go back to the other activities since then...
I found that this bikram yoga is truly an activity that meets all the enjoyments i used to look for in the others ...plus my hip pain is gone ...
The concentration ,the discipline, the sweating, you do in the 90 minutes is TRULLY very exhilirating very rewarding and very enjoyable...
I would highly recommend it to all...
i have...
many times...

My wife got hooked on BY about a year ago.
For me, having just
turned 51 and quite active running, lifting weights, golfing, playing basketball, etc I became interested in this new thing my wife had become
addicted to.
So I went.
After the very 1st class I quickly realized how
hugely benefical this program is to my muscle strength, core, vertebrae, mental attitude, and overall well being. I had been body sore for the last
12-15 years almost daily due to the activities I was doing on a daily basis
noted above. Moreover, my right knee and my lower back were always hurting
me.
Now in my 8th month, I can honestly tell you I have no back pain and
the ongoing knee ligament strain is completely healed. I still play
basketball and golf. However, I have stopped running and only occasionally
lift weights. I have not felt this good in 20 years. Though I was
probably 15 pounds overweight (6", 195), I now weigh in around 185. I lost
10 pounds very easily doing Yoga and never have changed my eating habits.
Lastly, my golf game has greatly improved due to my new found flexibility.
Great stuff that I am pretty certain that, god willing, I will be doing for the next several years.

Aloha, I just wanted to share with everyone how Bikram yoga and the community has changed my life in such an amazing way!
Before I started Bikram yoga I used to run 5 miles a day, lift weights 5 times a week and i was always in pain. If it wasn't my knees giving me problems it was my back. I used to get so sore and stiff and I just thought that I would always have to deal with pain if I wanted to stay in good shape. I was introduced to the practise about 3 years ago. Ever sense my first class I've been hooked! I don't need to run or lift weight anymore because this yoga does it all for me! I get an amazing stretch, but what most don't know is that you also contract almost every muscle in you body in the 90 minutes of class. My muscles have elongated and defined better then they ever did by lifting and running! But most of all my mind has never been at such peace with my body! I'm a happier person by far. I don't get upset or frustrated anymore or at least hardly ever. Like most of the instructors say "If you could stay calm and at peace in this HOT room then you can stay at peace with everything outside this room." Most of all I Have Chrone's and have battled with it most of my life off and on. This yoga has calmed my inflamation and my mind of the disease! I've never been healthier.
I hope this helps someone that is unsure of trying the class or has taken 1 or 2 classes and are not sure of the heat and the effort it takes to make it through class to continue practising and know that anything worth working for is never a walk in the park.... more like a walk through your hell that leads to your nervana!
Thanks to all the teachers, mentors and dear friends I've made on my journey.
Aloha, Audrey Wagner

Well I wanted to see the testimonials..but can't seem to get to that page. Alexis did you know that BY caused me to concentrate on my marriage...and it was broken. Now we are both happy and I'm healthier.
And all because I wanted to swing the golf club better.

I suffered from extreme sciatica pain for many years...was often unable to walk comfortably for days at a time. I tried everything from muscle relaxers to acupuncture to regular massage to various other types of yoga. Nothing worked and then I began my Bikram practice nine years ago.
Have not had a day of sciatica since.
Oh...and my mind is feeling aligned as well. Happy Day! Heather Little
